What is this type of insurance?

“The PhotoFury Protection Plan” is an insurance policy that provides repair or replacement of your insured product under certain events.

What is insured?

The following events are insured for your electronic device, new or used, for which you have purchased the insurance coverage. Material damage or destruction of the insured device caused by unforeseen events due to:

  • Operational errors
  • Device drops
  • Breakages
  • Liquid (excluding weather effects)
  • Fire
  • Lightning
  • Explosions
  • Implosions
  • Voltage overloads
  • Induction
  • Short circuit
  • Sabotage
  • Vandalism

Additionally, if the option has been purchased along with this insurance policy, your device is protected against forcible extraction (robbery or assault) and theft of the device outside of your personal custody.

What is not insured?

  • Cosmetic damages that do not affect the operability of the insured device.
  • The cost of replacing any accessory added to the product after its original purchase; consumables, auxiliary materials.
  • Damage and loss caused by misappropriation or by leaving, forgetting, or losing the insured device.
  • Damage that must be rectified by a third party, e.g., a manufacturer, dealer, or repair shop.
  • Damage or malfunction that can be rectified by cleaning.
  • Theft or any other loss of the insured device if the option has not been purchased in conjunction with this policy.

Are there any restrictions?

  • Damage occurring during the manufacturer's warranty period if the manufacturer or the insured party should be considered responsible for the damage.
  • Claim costs within the policy excess amount.
  • Any damage caused by omission or through intentional or deliberate acts.
  • Damage caused by cleaning, servicing, maintenance, or normal wear and tear.
  • Consequential damage directly or indirectly to property or financial loss.
  • Series production failures or other manufacturer errors.
  • Damage caused by improper packaging of the product during transport or shipping.

Where am I covered?

The insurance is valid worldwide. However, certain costs are restricted to the rates of your country of residence.

What are my obligations?

When taking out this policy:

  • You must provide all expressly required and material information for the conclusion of your insurance agreement truthfully and completely.

Once the policy is effective:

  • You must maintain the insured device properly and in operational condition and prevent or at least minimize the risk of damage or loss.

In case of a claim:

  • In the event of claims for damage covered by this policy, you must contact PhotoFury as soon as reasonably possible (preferably within 7 days from discovering the damage) once an insured event has occurred.
  • In case the damage is caused by theft, assault, burglary, or vandalism, you must immediately notify the police and report to PhotoFury as soon as the incident occurs.
  • In accordance with the Terms and Conditions, you must try to minimize the damage as much as possible and provide the insurer with all necessary documents and assistance to enable us to manage and process any claim submitted.

When and how do I pay?

The insurance price is payable at the time of policy purchase and will be collected by PhotoFury on behalf of Import Export GEFT 2014 HK LTD.

When does the coverage start and end?

The policy will start at the time and date shown in the insurance documents provided to you at the time of policy purchase. The insurance coverage could start after an applicable waiting period if a device is not insured immediately at the time of its purchase. It may be necessary to terminate the insurance before the indicated date concerning certain damages. The insurance coverage will automatically end when the selected period ends without the need for separate notification. The insurance end date can be found in the insurance documents sent to you by email.

How do I cancel the contract?

You can cancel your policy within 14 days from the date of purchase (the period starts when you receive your policy) without needing to provide any justification in writing (email, letter, fax, etc.). The insurance can also be canceled if an insured event occurs, but the notification must be made within one month after the insured event concludes. The insured person cannot send the cancellation notice at a date later than the insurance end date. In these cases, the insured will be entitled to a proportional refund of the paid amount.
