Full-Frame Zoom Fisheye with a 190° Field of View
Overview
The Canon RF 7-14mm f/2.8-3.5 L Fisheye STM is a zooming fisheye for RF full-frame bodies: at 7mm it draws a circular image, and by 14mm it fills the frame corner to corner. A 190° field of view means it sees behind its own front element, which is why the filter goes in a drop-in holder at the back rather than on the front.
Key features
From circular to full-frame fisheye
- 190° angle of view: 190°-149°45' horizontal, 190°-99°50' vertical and 190°-180° diagonal across the zoom range.
- One lens, two fisheye looks: circular at the wide end, diagonal full-frame at the long end, without changing lenses.
Optical construction
- 16 elements in 11 groups, with five UD elements and two replica aspherical elements.
- 9-blade aperture, closing to f/22-29.
- 3x ASC and Super Spectra coatings, with a fluorine coating on the front element — which matters on a bulbous front you cannot protect with a filter.
Close focus and stabilisation
- 0.15 m minimum focus distance and 0.35x maximum magnification at 14mm, so the foreground can almost touch the glass.
- 7 stops with in-body stabilisation (CIPA 2024, centre, at 14mm).
Filters and build
- Rear drop-in filter holder: a clear filter is included, with variable ND and circular polariser available.
- Dust and moisture resistant, with an EW-76 hood.

What it is good for
- Architecture and interiors: when the room cannot be photographed any other way.
- Action and POV: 190° puts the viewer inside the scene rather than watching it.
- Astro and skyscapes: the whole sky in one frame, with close focus for a foreground.
