102MP Medium Format in a Fixed-Lens Compact
Overview
The FUJIFILM GFX100RF puts a 102MP medium format sensor — nearly four times the area of full frame — into a body you can carry in one hand, paired with a fixed 35mm f/4 lens. Finished in silver, it is built around two physical dials that no other camera in the range has: one for aspect ratio and one for the digital teleconverter, so composition decisions happen with your thumb rather than in a menu.
Key features
The sensor
- 102MP GFX CMOS II sensor: 43.8 x 32.9 mm, with primary colour filter. Files reach 11648 x 8736 pixels, which leaves room to crop hard and still print large.
- X-Processor 5: the same engine as the flagship GFX bodies.
- ISO 80-12800 standard, extendable to ISO 40 and up to ISO 102400.
The fixed lens
- FUJINON 35mm f/4: equivalent to 28mm in 35mm terms — the classic reportage wide angle.
- 10 elements in 8 groups, two of them aspherical, with a 9-blade diaphragm running from f/4 to f/22.
- Built-in 4-stop ND filter: wide apertures and slow shutter speeds stay available in bright sun, with nothing to screw on.
- Leaf shutter: quiet, and it flash-syncs in a way a focal plane shutter cannot.
- 0.2 m minimum focus distance, measured from the front of the lens.
Two dials no other GFX has
- Aspect ratio dial: nine ratios, from 4:3 and 3:2 to the panoramic 65:24 and 17:6, plus 1:1 and 5:4. With 102MP behind it, cropping in camera costs you nothing you will miss.
- Digital teleconverter dial: 45mm, 63mm and 80mm (36, 50 and 63mm equivalent), so one fixed lens covers the three focal lengths a reportage photographer actually uses.
Viewing and controls
- 0.5in OLED viewfinder, 5.76 million dots: 100% coverage, 0.84x magnification and a generous 24mm eyepoint.
- 3.15in tilting touchscreen, approx. 2.10 million dots.
- 20 Film Simulation modes, including REALA ACE, Classic Neg., Nostalgic Neg., ETERNA and the ACROS family.
Video
- Apple ProRes 422 HQ, 422 and 422 LT recorded internally, plus HEVC/H.265, with 24-bit linear PCM audio.
- Records to SSD as well as to SD, so long ProRes takes are not limited by card capacity.

What it is good for
- Street and travel: medium format detail from a camera that does not announce itself, at 735 g rather than the two kilos a GFX body and lens usually weigh.
- Landscape: 102MP and a built-in ND, with the 65:24 ratio available on a dial for panoramic framing.
- Editorial and documentary: one 28mm-equivalent field of view, three teleconverter steps, and a leaf shutter quiet enough for a room where people are talking.
