26.16MP Stacked-Sensor Flagship at 40fps
Overview
The FUJIFILM X-H2S is the fast half of Fujifilm's flagship pair. Its 26.16MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HS sensor reads out far quicker than a conventional one, and that is what buys 40fps bursts and rolling shutter you can live with. It is not the high-resolution body — that is the X-H2 — it is the one that keeps up.
Key features
The stacked sensor
- 26.16MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HS: 23.5 x 15.6 mm APS-C. The HS suffix is the point: a high-speed readout structure rather than the HR's high resolution.
- X-Processor 5: needed to keep up with the sensor, and the basis of the subject-detection autofocus.
- ISO 160-12800 standard.
Speed
- Up to 40fps with the electronic shutter, uncropped, holding 184 JPEG or 170 lossless compressed RAW frames.
- 5-axis in-body stabilisation, 7.0 stops.
Viewing and storage
- 0.5in OLED viewfinder, 5.76 million dots.
- 3.0in vari-angle touchscreen.
- CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II, two slots of different types.
Colour
- 19 Film Simulation modes, including ETERNA and ETERNA Bleach Bypass for video work.

What it is good for
- Sport and wildlife: 40fps uncropped is the whole argument, and the fast readout keeps moving subjects from leaning.
- Events: silent electronic shutter at speed, with a finder that does not black out the moment.
- Video: CFexpress for long takes and ETERNA profiles straight out of camera.
