Full-Frame Power Zoom for Cinema and Broadcast
Overview
The NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ is a full-frame power zoom: the focal length is driven by a motor rather than a ring, at a constant f/4, across a range that covers wide angle to telephoto in one lens. It is built for video work, where a smooth, repeatable zoom matters more than saving weight.
Key features
- Power zoom: motorised focal length change, smooth and repeatable, which a hand on a ring cannot match.
- Constant f/4 from 28 to 135mm: exposure holds throughout the zoom.
- 18 elements in 13 groups, with three ED elements, one aspherical ED element and four aspherical elements.
- Meso Amorphous Coat, Nikon's most effective anti-reflection coating, plus a fluorine coat on the exposed element.
- 9 rounded diaphragm blades.
- Detachable tripod collar: 1,210 g with it, 1,120 g without.

What it is good for
- Cinema and documentary: motorised zoom moves at a speed a hand cannot hold steady.
- Broadcast and live: one lens covering 28 to 135mm with no exposure shift.
- Gimbal work: zoom without touching the lens, so the rig stays balanced.
